After your community obtains and studies the CIVIC PRIDE Implementation Manual and Video, we suggest you take as many of the following steps as possible to secure partners for the program:
| 1. | Conduct a CIVIC PRIDE Presentation in your community, attended by as many elected officials as possible, civic departments and voluntary groups to fully acquaint them with the program |
| 2. | Obtain Commitment of Elected Officials for the Program to secure support + some initial start-up funding if required (alternately find funding in existing budgets) |
| 3. | Appoint a Program Coordinator to oversee the program (voluntary, part-time or municipal staff) |
| 4. | Train the Coordinator so he/she understands all aspects of the program |
| 5. | Appoint an internal CIVIC PRIDE TASK FORCE to coordinate the program among various city departments |
| 6. | Appoint the voluntary CIVIC PRIDE ACTION GROUP by local government |
| 7. | Analyze existing waste management practices in cooperation with the CIVIC PRIDE ACTION GROUP. This can include establishing baseline measurements should your community wish to scientifically measure the performance of the program for future years (optional) |
| 8. | Develop an Action Plan agreed to by local government and the CIVIC PRIDE ACTION GROUP |
