Ten PITCH-IN Tips for Beachgoers

Don't Litter. Use garbage receptacles, or pack-out what you bring in.
Bring a bucket to the beach. Use it for litter you may find during your day. Set an example for others.
Follow local recycling rules. Recycling reduces diverts some solid waste from landfill and saves resources.
Avoid plastic disposables. Plastics take a long time or frequently don't break down in the environment. Plastics are very harmful to marine mammals.

Avoid certain packaging particularly dangerous to marine life. This includes six-pack rings, which can strangle birds, fish and other animals, and plastic bags which are often eaten by sea turtles who mistake them for jellyfish. If you find these items on the shore PITCH THEM INTO A CONTAINER or TAKE THEM OFF THE BEACH!
Never leave fishing line on the beach. Line can entangle birds, fish, turtles, and other animals.
