(Organization) is collecting used cell phones as part of PITCH-IN CANADA's National Cell Phone Recycling Program. The ongoing program will divert old cell phones from going to the dump while providing funds for (name cause - which could be Organization collecting the phones).
Cell
phone handsets collected will be refurbished or remanufactured to as new
condition. They will be sent to emerging countries where the price of a new
cell phone is unaffordable for most people. The phones are also provided, at no cost, to
other Canadians in situations where there is an economic necessity for both safety and
communications. Phones and batteries that cannot be reused are recycled to recover metals
and plastics.
"Cell phones contain many toxins and are very
hazardous to our environment and they should not end up in landfills," says (name of
Organization Spokesperson), adding "we are very excited about this opportunity to
promote re-use and recycling."
All cell phones, regardless of age or condition, will be accepted. "Please make
certain to deactivate your phone before giving it to our program," comments

According to PITCH-IN CANADA the aim is to reuse and recycle as many of the
millions of old cell phone handsets which are tucked away at the back of drawers
throughout the country.
